Happy Anniversary Michael & Kayla

MoxieFab-GINGHAM Challenge 2 by kimba7669

Hello all and Happy Saturday –

It is a GORGEOUS BEAUTIFUL day here in NYC – 79 degrees w/a cool breeze! I am so lovin’ this awesome weather.

And with that said, I just want to let you know that this is going to be a quick post as I am having a BBQ – decided to make some steaks and turkey burgers for dinner.

This is a card that I made for friends of mine.  I made this card so that I could give it to them for their 1st year anniversary….”and they never had a fight…LOL! I tried to keep it simple and clean and the colors I used were the colors that were in their wedding. So, Happy Anniversary Michael & Kayla!

Okay folks…my grill is hot and I have my kids and hubby waiting patiently for some grub…LOL! So, without further ado, I bid you all farewell.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Happy Father’s Day

SCRAMBLE #41 by kimba7669

Hello all-

Today is June 11th and on Sunday is a day that we acknowledge and make feel special the men in our lives. Here is a card that I created that was fairly easy to make.

I tried to keep it masculine by using neutral colors and wanted to add texture for some interest. I used the CuttleBug folder Distressed Stripes on the navy cardstock. I used HeroArts Three Fun Cars LP214. I used brads on the wheels to add some fun!

Well, I hope that you like the card and that you start get busy making the special men in your lives their Father’s Day cards.

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ual Friday – Feathered Friends Theme

Hey all-

This is going to be a quick post because I am on my way to work. This card I created for the CAS-ual Friday Feathered Friends Theme. I tried to keep it simple. I love this stamp…it’s from Michael’s $1 bin…..the chick is too cute! I colored him using PrismaColor Colored Pencils and Gamasol.

Well…that’s all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

MOXIE FAB HOUSEHOLD Challenge / Lily Pad Cards Challenge

MOXIE FAB HOUSEHOLD Challenge - PAPER TOWEL by kimba7669

Hello All-

LONG TIME…huh? I know…I know. My life has been crazy. New job….new responsibilities and trying to balance work w/my children has been quite a feat…..but I think that things have mellowed out a bit….well….enough that I can get back in my craft room and create.

One of the hardest thing for me is that when you are away from being creative for a long time….it’s hard to get the old juices flowing…Lol! It’s like I’ve gained cob webs and I am trying to clean them all out, so that I can find my “mojo” again…LOL! But what better way to get the ol’ Creative Juices/Mojo flowing than jumping right on into a challenge. The card I created is for a TWO challenges:

The FIRST Challenge:
Kathy’s Lily Pad Palette Challenge – http://www.lilypad.inlinkz.com/2012/04/06/lawn-fawn-presents-kathys-lily-pad-palette-challenge/ – Here I used the color palette that was given – KELLY GREEN, BRIGHT YELLOW, and a HOT PINK….such an awesome combination.

The SECOND Challenge:
Moxie Fab Household Challenge – http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2012/03/practical-solutions-week-household.html – for this card I used a PAPER TOWEL as my canvas. I stamped my image on the paper towel and then colored the petals with Prisma Color Colored Pencils. I really love the way it came out.

Well friends, thanks for hanging in there w/me and as always thanks for stopping by!

Happy February 1st…

CAS-ual Fridays SKETCH by kimba7669

Hello all-

I know it’s been a long time now that I haven’t posted but please know that I missed you all. Let me ask you this: Has this ever happened to you?

When I first started crafting, my first love was Scrapbooking. I was home when I just had my son, and I happened to have turned to a show where I first laid eyes on a woman by the name of Sandi Genovese. She would show the folks at home how to preserve the memories that we captured from taking pictures of our family, friends, special events and the like. That was also the first time I laid eyes on that BIG, RED SIZZIX Die Cutting Machine and right then ad there….I KNEW, I had to have it. I instantly fell in love with all the dies that went along. As time passed, I eventually got into card making and I fell in love with that as well. In the beginning, I would just make cards for the hell of it. I LOVE doing them. I didn’t care about TOO MANY embellishments, or the SCALE of the items on the card, or whether it was CAS (Clean and Simple)…I just wanted to make cards. Somewhere, along the way, I have lost that “just for he hell of it” kinda attitude. Creating cards is now soooo competitive. There are challenges and contest and the like that seem to be everywhere and all the time. Now, please understand….I LOVE CHALLENGES & CONTEST, but for ME, and ME ONLY, I seemed to have lost my way in that I stopped making cards for the sheer joy of it and rather to try to win. With that being said, there is a certain amount of pressure that goes into making a card when the pleasure of it is taken away. I realized that and that is why I really need to step back and take a break from it all. This time away was good for me because it allowed me to remember the WHY I love to create cards. It also allowed me to see how I let my love for scrapbooking go out the window. I have decided that I will get back to scrapbooking and I will continue to enter contest and challenges because I think that these are great in that they inspire me and challenge me to think outside my comfort zone. But what will be different is my attitude when I create – NO pressure – NO stress – Just the love of creating something with my hands.

So, has this ever happened to you before? I would love to hear if it has and what you did to differently to get back to the way you were in the beginning. I created this card for a challenge but I went at it very differently. I waited til the very last-minute (this is soooo NOT how I operate-so know that this is so out of character for me) and decided that I would spend 15 minutes on the card – no more, no less and this is the end product. I really like the wy it came out and if this is any inclination to how I will be creating from now on….WATCH OUT!…LOL!

Okay…I am officially OFF the soap box. Thanks for listening to my ramblings and for allowing me to vent a little….and most importantly…thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Martin Luther King Day!

Hello all-

Today we honor the memory of a man who believed that all men and women are created equal.  Dr. Martin Luther King believed in love, working together and peace.  His legacy teaches that despite our differences we all want the same thing – to be happy and live a life full of meaning.

I hope that you all are enjoying your Monday and thanks so much for stopping by!
